HeyBearcat: Bill Wood

Working with the Communications Office at the Hotchkiss, we embarked on a project similar to the Humans of New York. We use photography to tell a story, accompanied by a narrative of that person. We hope to use these stories to help connect the community with each other.

"My hobby is collecting Austin Healeys. What’s interesting to me is that they have fall festivals here from September to November where the older cars are running. My Austin Healeys were racing cars. There were 50 of these made, and I own 8 of them. I didn’t sell them but one could be sold for a million dollars. One went to Jackie Cooper because he’s a movie star.

My friend, who was a driving instructor, thought that I was too interested in cars, so he had to introduce me to this lovely girl. We fell in love. That was when I first met my wife. Our first date was at the car rally. I was guilty because I really don’t know where else to take her, but it was very exciting for me.”
